For sale this weekend: ACA 28th January

We all like to look at upcoming classic car auctions and imagine which ones we would buy. Here at Classic Car Auction Results though, we also like to compare the lots to past prices and see where the bargains might be.

With ACA’s latest Classic Car Auction coming up on the 28th, we’re taking a look at some of the East Anglian auction house’s most interesting offerings.

Lot 164: Ferrari 308 GTBi

A white 1982 Ferrari 308 GTBi

Perhaps one of few ‘proper’ Ferraris that is still in the realms of affordability, this 308 GTBi looks like it could be good value with the direction the Ferrari market has gone in recent years.

The mileage may be high at 92k, but with a religious service history and the high level of maintenance Ferrari’s receive anyway, this shouldn’t be too much of any issue. This model also benefits from being one of just 42 RHD UK cars and was, in fact. a Ferrari show car at the 1981 London Motor Fair.

Lot 6: Ford Capri 2.8 Injection

A red Ford Capri 2.8i

The Capri, like most Fords with a cult following, has seen a massive growth in prices in recent years, graduating from ‘banger’ to prestige classic alarming quickly. This 2.8 Injection has a reasonable mileage at 84k and appears to be in good condition too.

Being in desirable spec and at an estimate significantly lower than some cars have been going for recently, you could be just a quiet auction hall away from a bargain.

Lot 189: Riley 9 Special

A red Riley 9 Special

Looking to get into pre-war cars but fancy something a bit more modest that a Rolls-Royce or Bugatti? They don’t get the coverage of some other vintage cars, but Riley’s 1930s offerings like the 9, prove that cheap interwar motoring doesn’t have to mean an Austin 7.

What particularly draws us to this car is how it has received tasteful modifications to make it the perfect amateur competition car, or just a very cool weekend car. What’s more, a look our graph below shows that there is a bargain to be had here, the car’s lack of originality meaning a less fussy buyer can grab a steal!
