Anglia Car Auctions celebrate largest ever crowd and 88.5% sold


The largest crowd to date attended the latest Anglia Car Auctions Classic Sale on Saturday 27th January, and ACA are reporting that 199 (88.5%) of the 225 cars on offer have now been sold.

Notable results include a 1964 Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 which sold at £39,220, a 1971 Aston Martin DBS V8 at £65,720, an immaculate 1989 Honda Prelude that fetched £4,876, and a 1988 Jaguar XJR-S 6.0 prototype/development car which seemed an exciting purchase at £12,932.

A 1979 Rolls Royce Corniche FHC made £20,670, a barn-find Jensen FF Series 1 kicked off someones restoration project at £43,460, and a 2000 BMW E39 M5 provided accessible performance and appreciating value at £24,910.

1964 Austin Healey 3000 Mk III BJ8

This home market right-hand drive example comes with a Heritage certificate confirming that it was despatched on the 17th August 1964 to Car Mart Motors, London. We have been advised that it has been dry stored since 1972 and it’s registration number is no longer recorded at DVLA. Therefore, UK re-registration will be required. The file contains a support letter from the Austin Healey Club and corresondence from the DVLA. Mileage recorded at 46,536. Matching numbers. Chassis number HBJ828344.

1971 Aston Martin DBS V8 Manual

We can confirm that the Aston is a matching numbers car. Our technicians confirm that the engine turns with good compression and will run briefly, but the injector pump will require attention. Chassis number DBSV8/10288/RC and engine number V/540/265.

The Aston Martin Heritage Trust certificate that accompanies the car shows that this RHD example was first finished in Fiesta red with black trim and was dispatched to H.R Owen. Factory records show that H.R Owen took delivery on the 16th August 1971 and that it returned to the factory for servicing and repair on several occasions between 22nd November 1971 and the 27th July 1973.

Recently returned from Japan, it comes with the NOVA reference. Offered in need of restoration.

1989 Honda Prelude 2.0 EX

This one owner example is being offered with 22,210 warranted miles. Described by the vendor as being totally original with the interior remaining in excellent condition. It comes with the original book packs, service history book with one stamp, MoT history from 2006, original sales brochures and original V5. Chassis number JHMBA41300C106328.

2000 BMW E39 M5

This three owner M5 comes in Le Mans blue with black nappa Heritage leather. The speedo records mileage of 43,212 & during the last 4 to 5 years has covered less than 150 miles. The BMW service history dates between 2001 and 2010. Recent costs of £5k include to remove the engine, replace timing chains, guides, rod bearings & ARP bolts. Rebuilt vanos units & gears. Replaced MAF sensors & all gaskets. Clutch & flywheel replaced with LUK O.E. parts. The file also contains all MoTs, a file of invoices from 2004, M wallet, bookpack & spare key. 1968 Jensen FF Series 1

Stored for well over thirty years in a dry container, this late 1968 MK I FF shows just one registered keeper on the old style V5 and displays 45,799 miles. In need of full restoration, it does, however, appear remarkably sound in most areas. Matching numbers. Chassis number 119/080.

1988 Jaguar XJR-S 6.0 prototype/development car

Although registered in 1990, this car was originally on the Jaguar production line in 1988 being built for the American market. It was removed from the line and taken to the Jaguarsport facility where it was converted into the first XJR-S. The car then spent the next two years being used as a development test bed, this included the fitting of the 6.0 litre engine.There are many extra sensor points on the engine, there is a form of ram air fitted to the air filters, plus many other features that are not on any of the 5.3 litre or any of the later 6.0 litre cars. It has covered just 54,000 miles and comes with a comprehensive service history, owner’s manuals, leather wallet, a large file of documentation, receipts and MoTs. The file also contains various magazine articles together with copy letters confirming the vehicle’s provenance.
